Who are we?

The Tynewater Team have a wealth of experience working with a wide range of dogs and their families.  Our specialism is in building great relationships and bringing joy and fun to each team.  We are an ethical dog-centred organisation.

We work from two organisations, over at Tynewater Dog Training we work with you to build strong foundations in general lifeskills and we offer some great classes that give your dog mental stimulation and tap into their natural abilities.  Here in Tynewater Canine we fundamentlly focus on the power that is a dog's nose and we offer a range of activities including mantrailing, scentwork and truffle hunting.

Gwen

Gwen has trained dogs and their families for over 30 years, both in class situations and on a one-to-one basis.

Gwen is a Karen Pryor Academy Credited Training Partner and a Registered Animal Trainer with the Animal Behaviour & Training Council.

She has a City & Guilds in Scent Detection and as a Scent Instructor. Gwen also has a Post Graduate Certificate in Coaching alongside a Masters equivalent in People Development which means she is fully qualified to coach you to reach your goals. Gwen has been assesed for both her practical and theoretical skills for all her qualifications.

Gwen’s current dogs are all spaniels (Millie, Gracie & Thomas) and she has shared her life with a number of breeds and cross-breeds to date. She has trained her own dogs for Scentwork, Truffle Hunting, Working Trials, Lowland Search and Rescue and general obedience and one of her spaniels has worked as a Therapet.
 

Helen

Helen has been the Welfare Officer for the Dog Aid Society since 2004 and has a wide knowledge of different breeds and having worked in rescue, she has shared her home with various dogs which have ended up as permanent residents with Bella being the most current.

Helen has trained a variety of dogs and has over 25 years experience in both class situations & one to one tuition. Helen has welcomed a variety of dogs into her home and currently shares her life with Bella (Border Collie) and Kobi (German Shepherd).

Experienced in a wide range of behavioural problems; particularly in dog reactive and anxious dogs and Helen uses her knowledge, patience and expertise to help those dogs & owners enjoy a normal life.

Helen has trained her own dogs in general obedience, working trials, lowland search and rescue and co-operative care.

She is a recognised trainer and judge for Scentwork UK, is a Kennel Club good citizen judge (Bronze A list) and has competed and judged in working trials across the UK. Also an accredited Hoopers Instructor with both Canine Hoopers UK and Canine Hoopers World.  Helen is also a fully qualified pet and human first aider.

Helen has (and continues to) attend a number of canine related courses and seminars covering canine behaviours, clicker training, T-Touch and regularly attends Clicker Expo.
 

June

June has been training with dogs and their guardians for over 25 years and has a wealth of experience both in class situations and on a one-to-one basis, in particular with dog reactive dogs.

June is the Training and Behaviour Specialist for Paws for Progress and is a member of the Pet Professional Guild and the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers.

She is also an Approved Professional for Kids Around Dogs.

June currently shares her life with 2 spaniels and a Flatcoated retriever and has previously had cross breeds in the family.

She has trained her own dogs for various activities including tricks, Parkour, scentwork, agility, general obedience, working trials and lowland search and rescue.
